Somalia’s trade policy: lower costs, wider market access

Abdihalim Ibrahim, Director of Foreign Trade and Market Access at Somalia’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, explains how the draft National Trade Policy 2027–2031 aims to simplify trade procedures, make requirements more consistent across the country and help producers meet export standards.

The video highlights the policy validation workshop held in Mogadishu on 27–28 September 2026. Government institutions, Federal Member States and private sector representatives reviewed the draft and discussed priorities for implementation, with support from the World Bank-financed HoA DRIVE Somalia project.
